Rubbish - How do you value your time?

A quick blog - as the title says how do you value your time? Getting a clearance company may not always be the right thing to do but how do you calculate your time and effort?
As a quick guide which can vary depending on where you live.
  • What hourly rate do you normally earn in your day job or profession?
  • How many hours will it take for you to clear the loft, garage, house or garden?
  • How many journeys will it take?
  • Are you working alone or do you have help?
  • How far are you from the domestic tip where you have to seperate all items?
  • How long on average do you think you will have to wait?
  • How long will it take you to get back and forth from the tip?
So as an example
Loft clearance - small loft part full - 3 hours to remove, plus a further hour to move downstairs
Cost = Average hourly wage £6 x 3 = £24
Distance from domestic tip 3.5 miles x 3 journeys - 3 hours to offload rubbish and drive back and forth
Cost = £6 x 3 = £18
Diesel / Petrol cost = £6
Overall cost excluding any difficulties encountered £48
You always have the choice but everything does cost money it just depends on how you view things.
