Bereavement Clearance are you ready

Bereavement clearance never an easy time for anybody but is it better to do the work of clearing yourself or do you get a company in to do the work for you?
 
As bereavement can be a stressful time with many things to organise it is worth considering taking some weight of your shoulders to get a reliable company in once you have dealt with the personal affects that have lovingly bequest in a will.
 
Depending on the size of the property the time required to clear can be imense.
Many people very often do not realise the enormous task ahead. As a professional at many types of home clearance an average 3 bed house can take up to nine hours with a team of four to clear in a day.
A common one bedroom flat located on any floor above ground floor can take up to six to eight hours with three people.
 
Clearing homes can be at first glance easy but until you physically start removing items do you realise that the task ahead maybe more difficult then you thought.
 
Unfortunately you may find there is not enough money in the deceased estate to cover costs of a company clearance as the basic starting price usually sits around the £150. The average price £400 - £500 and the more busy clearances even more.
 
If you are left in this situation please consider a number of things when tackling a home clearance,
 
  • how many people do you have to help you
  • when hiring a van to clear unwanted furniture to the domestic will they let you in on the day you wish to clear
  • if you use your car how many times to the charity shop or domestic will you need to do
  • how much time will it take to complete filling up your chosen vehicle, drive to your destination and offload your goods
  • are you able to pick up heavy weights when clearing
 
 
On average in clearing a small not to busy property a person will be required to travel to a domestic tip or charity shop at least 15 times. If you take into account that most times to load / unload and the journey could take up to 3 hours then a monetary cost can be found
 
  • 15 journeys X 3 hours = 45 hours X minimum wage = £283.50
  • Petrol or diesel = 1 gallon per journey X 15 X £6.50 a gallon = £97.50
 
So an average cost of YOUR time and effort can be equated to £381 for a small but not to busy property.
 
Everybody will make a decision for thereselves but if you do consider alternatives it is always sensible to as a company such as A4 Ezy to give you a quote, it may make the difference between having a major clearance to do or geting it done on a day of your choice.
