Hey some of these blogs are just a personal rant in regard to recycling, so please excuse the indulgence. It has been some time since I started recycling, although I dont do it whole heartedly I know that my business has now contributed to my carbon footprint big time but it takes more than an individual or a small company to make that difference. In reality it is the collective that makes the changes but it would be nice occasionally if it was supported more by what really happens with the rubbish and what is there in the pipeline from councils to support the move forward.
I was looking at the recycling of paint recently and although councils now through domestic collection allow emulsions to be dropped off at the local sites they have at the same time cut the allowance. At the present there is only a small number of recycling companies in this area or the odd charity that will accept a limited amount of paint to be reused in special projects. It does make a difference but is it enough do you have idea's about this?
Another area of recycling is the dredded polystyrene ideal for it's usage but a nightmare for few ideas to recycle - it is used in building blocks, clothes, repackaging and aereation of soil but all are limited as bi products to balance the mass use of such a product that goes to our landfill sites. Where are the innovative companies that can use polystyrene?
